Lufthansa Group’s October 21 notice sets a phased Travel ID requirement for website and app check-in across Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Edelweiss and Discover Airlines.

Departure-based rollout

  • October 20: Schengen departures, excluding Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
  • November 2: European non-Schengen countries; Germany except Frankfurt and Munich; Austria; Switzerland except Zurich.
  • November 16: USA, Canada and Mexico, plus Munich and Zurich.
  • November 30: All other regions, plus Frankfurt.

Airport check-in remains an exception

Exceptions include airport counters and kiosks, tickets issued by other airlines, other-airline-operated flights on Group-issued tickets, group bookings, and selected tour-operator or charter bookings checked in using agency-provided details.

For a multi-traveler booking, only the person checking everyone in needs a Travel ID. The Group says travelers will receive information before departure and during check-in.
