Argentina’s ATE union plans airport action on Friday, November 6, unless a formal process is established to address operational funding and pay at the national civil aviation authority, ANAC. Passengers should monitor their airline’s flight status; the union’s notice does not identify individual flights that will be cancelled.

The condition appears in ATE’s October 29 formal notice. The union publicised the planned action in a November 2 statement, warning of possible delays and cancellations. This is advance notice of intended action, rather than confirmation that an airport is currently closed.

Ezeiza and Aeroparque: enhanced inspections planned

ATE says ANAC staff would withhold tasks, while at Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) it plans a work-to-rule approach involving extensive inspections of aircraft, ramp equipment, runways, taxiways and works.

The union’s statement concerns conditions at more than 27 airports. It does not provide a complete flight-by-flight disruption list or a start-and-finish timetable for the November 6 action.

What the union says it would maintain

ATE says medical, humanitarian, organ-transfer and official flights would be guaranteed during the protest. These are the union’s stated exemptions, rather than a published airline operating schedule.

The dispute concerns operating resources and salaries. ATE’s equipment and safety complaints are union allegations; the notice is not a regulator’s accident finding or an independently verified assessment that every airport is unsafe.

Checks for passengers travelling on November 6

  • Check the operating airline’s own status notice for your flight number, and check again before leaving for the airport.
  • Confirm whether the booking uses EZE or AEP; they are different Buenos Aires airports.
  • If the airline changes your flight, use its official instructions or the booking agent’s confirmed options. The union notice alone does not establish a cancellation or a particular refund entitlement.

The October 29 notice makes the intended action conditional on a formal process to address the dispute. Passengers should watch for updated union, ANAC, airport and airline announcements as November 6 approaches.
