Vietnam has become the 78th country to sign the Artemis Accords, NASA reported on October 28, 2026, expanding the international framework for responsible space exploration.

Where the signing took place

NASA’s announcement says Minister of Science and Technology Vũ Hải Quân signed for Vietnam during Vietnam International Digital Week in Ha Long.

What the commitment covers

The principles address peaceful and transparent activities, assistance to people in distress, sharing scientific data, avoiding interference with other countries’ activities, and protecting historically significant sites and artifacts.

NASA and the U.S. State Department established the accords with seven other founding nations in 2020. NASA places Vietnam’s participation alongside existing cooperation in satellite technology and Earth observation. Its signing notice announces no Vietnamese astronaut assignment or specific flight.
