AirAsia is asking passengers preparing for year-end journeys to build extra time into their airport plans as seasonal weather and heavier traffic increase the chance of disruption. Its November 2 travel advisory, issued in Sepang, sets out practical steps for the monsoon travel period.
When to reach the airport
The airline recommends arriving at least three hours before an international departure and two hours before a domestic flight. Those are airport arrival recommendations: passengers should still check the deadlines and requirements attached to their own booking.
AirAsia encourages passengers, including those in group bookings, to check in through its website or the AirAsia MOVE app. The advisory gives a self check-in window from 14 days before departure until one hour before the scheduled flight.
Check the flight before starting the journey
The carrier recommends checking flight status about 24 hours ahead and checking again before leaving for the airport. Passengers should also confirm that the email address and phone number in their booking are correct, so operational messages can reach them.
Rain and flooding can complicate the journey to an airport even when a flight is still operating. For Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, the airline points travellers towards the Express Rail Link as a public transport option. Travellers should check their route and allow for road delays.
If the flight changes
AirAsia says affected passengers should look for booking emails and the available self-service options, or use its Bo chatbot for assistance. The advisory does not establish a blanket cancellation programme or a universal refund or free-rebooking entitlement.
