Delta wheelchair assistance can cover the airport journey, boarding and help onboard. Here is how to request the service and prepare questions about your own mobility device before travel.

Official guidance checked October 9, 2026. This is a planning guide, not a firsthand review or a promise about a particular airport or aircraft.

How to request Delta wheelchair assistance

After booking, open My Trips and choose Accessible Services. Delta also lists 404-209-3434, with 711 for relay services. Its wheelchair page recommends sharing mobility needs at least 48 hours before travel for the best service; do not interpret that recommendation as a blanket refusal of later requests.

Choose the assistance that matches your journey

Services described by Delta
Service Purpose
Airport wheelchair Assistance from curbside through airport procedures to the aircraft door
Aisle wheelchair Help from the jet bridge along the aircraft aisle to your seat
Onboard wheelchair An aircraft-sized chair for assistance during flight

These are different stages, so describe all the help you need rather than assuming one request covers every transfer.

Bringing your own wheelchair or scooter

Delta provides an aircraft-fit tool and asks for device measurements and battery information. Its fit estimate is not final travel approval. For partner-operated flights, check the operating airline’s requirements directly. Use the official wheelchair and mobility-device page for device-handling details rather than relying on this checklist as approval.

A checklist for your conversation with the airline

Keep a short note beside your reservation and ask the airline to confirm each item relevant to you:

  • Where do I meet assistance at my departure airport?
  • Do I need help between the aircraft door and my seat as well as through the terminal?
  • What arrangements apply at each connection and on the return journey?
  • Who operates each flight, and whom should I contact about my device?
  • What device details should I provide, and where should I confirm its acceptance?
  • What should I do if my plans or flight assignments change?

This is a suggested question list, not an additional airline requirement. Keep the answers and your booking reference accessible for travel day.

If My Trips does not cover your request

Delta’s accessibility overview directs travelers to its assistance number for needs beyond the online options. An Accessible Service Request form is also available when travel is more than seven days away. That is the form’s eligibility window, not a general seven-day deadline for all wheelchair assistance.

Connections and help at the airport

Delta says prearranged wheelchair assistance can include connections. Electric carts are different: they are available only at selected airports and cannot transfer passengers between terminals or concourses. Ask airport staff for help if your arrangements are unclear.

For a disability-related problem, ask a Delta representative for a Complaint Resolution Official. Delta’s Accessible Travel Services overview explains the contact and airport-resolution options.
