Long Thanh International Airport is targeting the start of commercial operations at 00:00 local time on December 24, 2026. Vietnam’s aviation authority set out the planned date in an October 30 notice describing preparations by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

A target date, with preparations still underway

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam notice, published at 17:01 GMT+7 on October 30, says airlines have been asked to develop operating plans with ACV and the relevant agencies. Flight allocations are still being coordinated with slot planning at Long Thanh and Tan Son Nhat.

Remaining construction, acceptance procedures, legal requirements and specialist licensing must be completed. The notice does not establish that the airport has already received every approval needed for commercial flights.

Proposed initial flights

In an October 30 ACV-authored update published by ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East, the operator describes a proposed initial programme of up to approximately 366 flights a week: 322 domestic and 44 international. Vietnam Airlines plans Long Thanh–Hanoi and selected international services; Vietjet is expected to introduce domestic routes.

Those plans remain subject to readiness and the relevant procedures. They are not a confirmed bookable timetable.

Check the airport on your ticket

ACV says road transport will provide the initial connection with Ho Chi Minh City and Tan Son Nhat while longer-term rail links are developed. Inter-airport transfer services are being planned; the release gives no guaranteed transfer time or fare.

Before booking a connection, check each flight’s airport, travel date and the ground transfer arrangements with your airline. Follow the airline’s confirmed operating notices as the planned launch approaches.
