Perth Airport’s October 26, 2026 concept designs propose a 159,000-square-metre terminal with 22 additional contact gates. The future facility is part of the One Airport consolidation program.

What is in the concept design?

The airport’s announcement says some gates would be able to switch between domestic and international operations.

Planned passenger facilities include automated check-in and bag drop, an upgraded baggage system and a shared location for domestic and international security checkpoints. The designs also provide for sensory rooms, multi-faith rooms, family facilities and a landscaped courtyard.

Architects Woods Bagot worked on the concept, which the airport says draws on Western Australia’s landscape and Whadjuk Noongar Country.

What happens before it opens?

The airport says procurement for the main works package has moved into a request-for-tender phase, with early contractor involvement and contract award planned in 2027. Those are procurement milestones; they are not an announced passenger opening date.

The proposed building is part of a broader effort to bring flight services into a central airport precinct. Features shown in a concept design can still depend on later design, contracting and delivery work.

What this means for a current booking

The design announcement does not tell passengers to change their departure terminal. For an upcoming journey, use the terminal shown in your airline’s booking information and current airport guidance.

That is particularly relevant when arranging a pick-up, parking or a connection between separate flights. Future facilities should not be assumed to be available for a trip booked now.
