LATAM has published a weather waiver for passengers travelling to, from or through Galápagos (GPS) and San Cristóbal (SCY) in Ecuador, covering original flight dates from October 31 through November 3, 2026. Its November 1 notice sets out options for changing a journey or requesting a refund.

Which changes qualify?

Passengers may choose one alternative. A date, flight or rerouting change that keeps the same origin and destination is available without a penalty or fare difference, subject to availability in the same cabin, within 30 days of the original flight date.

Changing the origin or destination also carries no penalty, but fare differences and ticket validity apply. LATAM lists an exception for affected passengers switching to an airport within 500 kilometres of the original airport: that change can be made without a fare difference in the same cabin.

If you no longer want to travel

The notice allows a penalty-free refund covering all unused ticket coupons and associated ancillary purchases, within 30 days of the original flight date. Passengers whose flights were cancelled or rescheduled can use LATAM’s involuntary-change protection policy.

Check the booking before choosing

Use the airport code on your ticket when discussing a change: GPS and SCY are separate destinations. Ask LATAM, or the agent that issued your ticket, to confirm how the waiver applies to your remaining itinerary before accepting a replacement. If proposing another airport, check the onward journey as well as the flight.

This is a guide to the airline’s published ticket options, not a live airport-status report. A waiver does not establish that every covered flight is cancelled. Check your individual flight with the airline before travelling to the airport, and retain the original itinerary and any change confirmation.
