Ethiopian Nacala flights are scheduled to begin on October 27, 2026, adding a third Mozambique destination to the airline’s network. The published route runs from Addis Ababa through Blantyre to Nacala, then returns directly to Addis Ababa.
This is a launch preview based on Ethiopian Airlines’ September 16 announcement, checked October 26. It is not a new announcement today or confirmation that the inaugural flight has operated.
Ethiopian Nacala flights: the published route
The airline lists flight ET875 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Its schedule shows three sectors: Addis Ababa (ADD)–Blantyre (BLZ), Blantyre–Nacala (MNC), and Nacala–Addis Ababa. Maputo and Beira are Ethiopian’s existing Mozambique destinations, according to the release.
The outbound Blantyre stop matters when comparing journeys. An Addis Ababa–Nacala search should not be described as nonstop merely because the itinerary uses one flight number. Check the stop, elapsed journey time and onward connection in the booking you select.
What the new service changes
In the announcement, Ethiopian Group CEO Mesfin Tasew described the route as a way to strengthen links between Mozambique and Ethiopia and connect Nacala with the airline’s wider network. That is the airline’s stated aim; the release does not establish fares or seat availability for a particular trip.
For travelers considering Nacala, the useful comparison is the complete itinerary rather than the existence of a route alone. Compare both travel directions, including the time between any connecting flights, before committing to accommodation or a separate ticket.
Before booking or leaving for the airport
- Search the actual travel dates on Ethiopian’s official website and check that Nacala, airport code MNC, is the selected destination.
- Review the baggage allowance and change conditions attached to your selected fare. A route announcement does not specify the conditions of every ticket.
- Ask the airline about any requirements applying to the Blantyre stop and your onward journey. Do not assume that a single flight number answers every transfer question.
- Recheck flight status and booking messages close to departure. The planned launch date is not a guarantee that an individual service will operate.
