Delta Atlanta–Riyadh flights will launch later than planned, with the airline now targeting March 2027. Delta announced the delay on October 12, citing regional developments and safety considerations.

For passengers with existing reservations, the immediate task is to review the booking and choose between an alternative itinerary and the available refund options.

What Delta has confirmed

In its official announcement, Delta said it remains committed to serving Saudi Arabia and is coordinating with government and aviation partners, including Saudia and Riyadh Air. It did not give a specific March launch day.

This is a postponement of the planned nonstop route. The announcement does not establish that every airline’s Riyadh flights are cancelled. For the broader background, see our Riyadh airport disruption coverage.

Which bookings qualify for the Riyadh waiver?

Delta’s Riyadh travel waiver lists these dates:

  • Destination: travel to, from or through Riyadh (RUH).
  • Affected travel: October 23, 2026–March 26, 2027.
  • Ticket issue deadline: October 12, 2026.
  • Change and new departure deadline: May 31, 2027.

Eligible rebooking in the same cabin within the stated window can have the fare difference waived. Changing the origin or destination, or travelling outside that window, can involve a fare difference.

What booked passengers should do now

  1. Open My Trips on Delta’s website or app and check the affected itinerary.
  2. Compare the offered replacement journey with your accommodation and onward travel plans before accepting it.
  3. If the replacement does not suit you, review the refund option. Delta’s announcement includes refunds for the unflown portion of affected trips; the waiver also lists eCredit options.
  4. Save the confirmation of whichever change or cancellation you select.

Check the final price and payment method before confirming a change. An eCredit and a refund to the original payment method have different practical uses, so choose the option that fits your plans.
