Seattle–Osaka and Seattle–Papeete nonstop flights are planned for 2027, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines announced on October 20, 2026. Hawaiian will serve both routes with Airbus A330 aircraft, adding mainland departure options for Japan and Tahiti trips.

Tickets are on sale through the airlines’ websites. Both routes are planned as year-round services and remain subject to government approval; they are future launches, not flights already operating.

Seattle–Osaka and Tahiti launch dates

Announced plans checked October 20, 2026; schedules can change
Route Planned start Frequency
Seattle (SEA)–Osaka Kansai (KIX) May 14, 2027 Four times weekly
Seattle (SEA)–Papeete, Tahiti (PPT) June 11, 2027 Three times weekly

The announcement says Hawaiian’s Honolulu services to Osaka and Papeete will continue. The Seattle expansion adds another gateway rather than announcing the withdrawal of those Honolulu routes.

Which cabin should you expect?

The airlines describe A330 service with lie-flat business seating and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi for Atmos Rewards members. A330 interior renovations are scheduled to begin in 2028, after these route launches. See our separate report on future cabin plans; confirm the actual seat layout when booking a 2027 departure.

A checklist before booking

For travelers comparing these new options, start with the full journey rather than the destination name alone:

  • Verify the airport codes and travel dates on both directions of your itinerary.
  • Check which days the nonstop operates. With fewer than daily departures, a different return date may require a connection.
  • For a connection in Seattle, compare the scheduled transfer time and whether every flight is on the same ticket.
  • Review the fare’s baggage allowance, seat charges and change conditions before paying.
  • Match hotel and onward-transfer dates to the arrival dates shown on your booking.

These are suggested planning checks, not additional airline requirements. Use Alaska’s booking site or Hawaiian’s website for current availability and ticket terms.
