A Stansted power surge disrupted security and baggage systems on October 25, 2026, leaving passengers facing queues and flight delays. The airport said its systems were back in service by that evening, according to Sky News.

Stansted power surge: what was confirmed?

Sky’s report, updated October 25 at 18:09 UK time, attributes about 250 delays and six cancellations that Sunday to Flightradar24 data. Those daily totals do not establish that the power problem alone caused every affected flight.

The airport’s statement, quoted by Sky, says the surge affected the airport and local area and temporarily disrupted several airport systems. This report relies on Sky’s reproduction of that statement, rather than an independently retrieved airport bulletin.

Restored systems do not confirm an individual departure

The restoration announcement concerned airport systems. It was not a guarantee that every flight had recovered its schedule. For a particular booking, check the airline’s own flight-status information alongside Stansted Airport’s official flight information. Contact the airline before assuming a cancelled service has been reinstated.

Check the airport journey separately

Sky also describes separate Stansted Express disruption after storm damage near Stansted Mountfitchet on October 23–24. Do not assume that restoring airport equipment also resolved railway faults. Check current rail information before leaving for the airport.

Flyzeu’s Loganair Storm Boelo report covers a different airline disruption; its change policy does not apply to every Stansted booking.

Reporting checked October 26, 2026. The electrical incident occurred October 25; this is not a live airport-status alert.
