Turkish Airlines has signed leases with AerCap for two Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters, with deliveries scheduled between March and September 2027, the lessor announced on October 29.

The agreement is for future cargo capacity. It does not mean the two aircraft have already joined the airline’s operating fleet or that a new freight route has opened.

Conversions planned in Abu Dhabi

AerCap says the aircraft will be converted at Etihad Engineering’s maintenance, repair and overhaul hub in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, before delivery to the Turkish carrier. The arrangement links an Irish lessor, a Turkish airline and a conversion facility in the UAE.

In its dated announcement, AerCap’s chief commercial officer Peter Anderson described the aircraft as additional cargo capacity for Turkish Airlines and highlighted the regional role of the Abu Dhabi facility.

What is confirmed—and what remains open

  • Aircraft: two Boeing 777-300ERSF passenger-to-freighter conversions.
  • Delivery window: March–September 2027, subject to the announced schedule.
  • Conversion location: Etihad Engineering’s Abu Dhabi hub.

The release does not identify the two airframes, specify an exact handover day for either aircraft, disclose lease pricing or assign routes. Shippers should therefore use the airline’s current cargo schedules rather than treat this fleet agreement as confirmation of a particular flight or future booking option.

AerCap also places the agreement within its wider converted-777 programme, citing deliveries to other operators and additional leasing agreements. Those programme developments are separate from the two aircraft now contracted for Turkish Airlines.
