Air Canada and United announced six Canada–U.S. routes for summer 2027 on October 16, adding nonstop choices through Toronto, Montréal, Edmonton, Newark and Denver. For travelers, the useful distinction is between the announced route and the dates it actually operates: several additions are seasonal.

Air Canada launch dates at a glance

Air Canada’s announced summer 2027 services
Route Season Frequency
Toronto–Louisville April 28–October 31, 2027 Up to daily; daily from May
Montréal–Indianapolis June 1–September 30, 2027 Daily
Edmonton–Newark June 1–October 17, 2027 Four weekly

Air Canada also plans a larger Airbus A220 on Edmonton–San Francisco. That is a capacity change on an existing route, not a seventh new city pair.

United’s additions are seasonal Newark–St. John’s service and new Denver flights to Ottawa and Québec City. The announcement does not provide their exact operating dates. United also plans more Washington Dulles–Québec City flights and a 65% increase in daily seats between Denver and Winnipeg.

What to check before booking

Search both travel directions for your intended dates, rather than assuming that a summer route operates every day. A four-times-weekly service may not fit a short trip or a fixed return date.

When comparing a nonstop itinerary with a connection, check the total fare, baggage allowance, change terms and scheduled connection time. If onward travel involves a different airport, include the ground transfer in the comparison; a city-region destination is not a promise that every airport is interchangeable.

United travelers can also use our Starlink flight-checker guide to check expected Wi-Fi availability separately from the route schedule. Aircraft assignments can change.

Partnership expansion still needs approval

The airlines have applied to renew and expand their transborder joint-business agreement. The amendment remains subject to regulatory approvals; the announcement is not a notice that those approvals have been granted.
