Royal Schiphol Group has offered to raise its stake in the operator of Maastricht Aachen Airport from 40% to 80%. The Province of Limburg said on November 5 that it had put the offer before the provincial council for a decision. Under the proposal, Limburg would retain the other 20%.
What would change
Schiphol Group has held a 40% stake since 2023. A majority holding would give it a larger role in developing the airport. The group says the deal still depends on further decisions and final agreements.
Limburg says the airport would continue to operate within the province’s 2022 framework, including commitments on reducing nuisance and improving sustainability. Schiphol Group says Maastricht Aachen handled about 41,600 tonnes of air freight and 159,000 passengers in 2025.
