The UK Civil Aviation Authority has opened a call for evidence on the disruption caused by the NATS technical incident of September 8, 2026. Airlines, airports and their representative groups have until 11:59 p.m. on November 23 to submit information.
The regulator’s November 3 announcement asks about the operational impact and lessons for future resilience. This is a new stage in the independent review, rather than a report of a new air traffic outage.
What the review is seeking
The CAA says the review is being carried out at the transport secretary’s request. Its call for input focuses on evidence from aviation organisations affected by the September incident, including what could improve the system’s resilience.
The regulator also plans targeted engagement with consumer groups. That is separate from processing an individual passenger’s case.
This is not a compensation claims channel
The CAA explicitly says the review cannot consider individual passenger complaints or compensation claims. Travellers should not treat a submission to this review as a substitute for pursuing a claim through the relevant airline’s process.
The call for evidence does not itself establish the cause of the incident, assign liability or change the status of a particular flight. No new cancellation total or compensation entitlement is announced in the November 3 notice.
