Vietnam Airlines says a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Munich diverted to Islamabad, Pakistan, so a passenger could receive urgent medical assistance. The airline published its account on November 1, 2026.

Medical assistance arranged on the ground

According to the airline’s account, cabin crew assisted the passenger and called for medical help on board. A doctor who examined him recommended landing so he could reach a medical facility.

The flight crew chose Islamabad, and Vietnam Airlines coordinated with ground staff to receive the aircraft and assist the passenger.

Onward journey was subject to clearance

The airline said the flight would continue to Munich after the passenger had been assisted, the aircraft refuelled and the necessary clearance obtained. That statement was a plan to resume the journey, rather than confirmation of an onward departure time.

Vietnam Airlines also said it was coordinating assistance for travellers who missed connecting flights because of the diversion. Its account did not set out individual rebooking arrangements.

Affected travellers should check their own booking and flight status directly with the airline before arranging an onward connection. This report does not establish the passenger’s later medical condition or an aircraft technical fault.
