Qantas Freight customers should check the city-specific end times in its October 23 industrial-action notice when planning cargo movements on Thursday, October 29. The notified stoppages began on October 28.

Notified end times: October 29

City Local end time UTC end time
Adelaide 4:59 a.m. ACDT October 28, 18:29
Sydney 4:59 a.m. AEDT October 28, 17:59
Melbourne 9:59 a.m. AEDT October 28, 22:59
Brisbane 6:59 p.m. AEST October 29, 08:59

By 8 a.m. AEDT on October 29, the notified Sydney and Adelaide windows had elapsed; Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth had later end times. Notice periods do not confirm actual participation or cleared backlogs.

What shippers should do

Qantas Freight says terminals would remain operational under contingency arrangements, with critical freight prioritised. It advises allowing extra processing time and discussing urgent or time-sensitive consignments with a freight representative.

Check passenger flights separately. Friday’s Sydney security-screening action is a separate event.
