United Airlines flight 1681 returned safely to Las Vegas on the night of October 24, 2026 after a reported passenger disturbance. The airline described the reason as a “potential security concern”; its public account does not establish that a hijacking occurred.

What is confirmed about United flight 1681?

The Boeing 737 had departed Harry Reid International Airport for Newark Liberty International Airport. It carried 150 passengers and six crew members, with no injuries reported, according to FOX5’s October 25 reporting, which cites United and airport officials.

FOX5 also reported that the FAA said it would investigate. That is an investigation statement, not a finding about a passenger’s intent or responsibility.

Why passengers faced an overnight delay

United said the onward departure was delayed overnight because of crew timeout. In USA TODAY’s report carried by AOL, the airline confirmed the return and said the flight continued the following morning.

The airport also confirmed the incident to USA TODAY and referred further questions to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. The outlet said police had not responded to its request for comment at publication. Flyzeu has not conducted a separate interview with the airline or police.

What remains unconfirmed

The airline did not publicly specify the security concern in the statement reported by USA TODAY. We are not treating circulating allegations about a passenger’s messages as proof of a hijacking, and are not identifying or accusing an individual.

This report concerns the October 24 return and the subsequent overnight disruption. It is not an announcement of an ongoing emergency or a general closure at Las Vegas or Newark. Travelers with upcoming journeys should use their own booking and airline flight-status information.
