AerFin has agreed to buy 44 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft and their 88 CFM56-7B engines from Qantas, with handovers spread over the next seven years.
The aviation aftermarket company’s November 4 announcement says the first aircraft is expected to arrive in 2026. The agreement does not mean 44 aircraft are leaving Qantas service immediately.
Retirements will follow fleet renewal
Qantas Domestic chief executive Markus Svensson said its 737s would keep flying for years alongside newer aircraft. He said the deal preserves flexibility to adjust retirement dates as replacement aircraft arrive.
Aircraft and engines will support aftermarket supply
AerFin says the assets will help supply material and support to airlines and maintenance providers. It describes the transaction as its largest to date.
For passengers, this announcement is a long-term aircraft-transfer plan, not a flight-cancellation notice. Check the operating aircraft and flight status for your particular booking.
