KLM flight cancellations for Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam have been extended through October 31, 2026, according to the airline’s October 10 newsroom update. Travelers with bookings to these destinations should check their individual itinerary before heading to the airport.

Which KLM destinations are affected?

The latest KLM statement, updated at 3:30 p.m. Amsterdam time on October 10, lists these three cities:

Destination KLM suspension through
Dubai, United Arab Emirates October 31, 2026, inclusive
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia October 31, 2026, inclusive
Dammam, Saudi Arabia October 31, 2026, inclusive

This is an extension of an existing suspension, not a new suspension starting today. The announcement does not guarantee that services will restart on November 1, and it should not be read as a statement that all airlines have stopped serving these cities.

What should passengers do first?

  1. Open KLM My Trip or the app and check every flight segment, including connections.
  2. Before accepting a replacement, compare its transfer time, airports and arrival date with your original plans. Keep your booking confirmation and airline messages together.
  3. Check the policy applicable to your ticket before choosing a new date, voucher or refund. If an agent issued your ticket, contact the agent about handling the booking.

Who is covered by the Middle East rebooking policy?

Policy checked October 12, 2026: KLM’s Middle East travel alert sets these conditions:

Condition Published requirement
Itinerary To, from or via Dubai (DXB), Riyadh (RUH) or Dammam (DMM)
Original travel dates February 28–November 15, 2026
Ticket issue date On or before October 9, 2026

Do not apply this special policy automatically to a newer ticket or a different destination. If your booking falls outside its scope, ask KLM or your agent which conditions apply.

Rebooking, voucher or refund: what is the difference?

  • Rebook: under this policy, a free date change requires availability in your original travel class. The replacement departure must be no later than December 15, 2026.
  • Voucher: this is credit for later travel, not a cash payment. The alert states a one-year validity from issue; check its permitted uses before choosing it.
  • Refund: the alert says a cancelled flight can qualify for a full ticket-and-extras refund. Use the official request process and confirm what applies to your itinerary.

Before submitting a refund: KLM’s cash-refund guidance warns that the request cancels all flights in that booking. Do not submit it merely to explore options if you intend to keep another leg. Its online system assesses full or partial eligibility; its cancellation guidance also distinguishes passengers who did not take an alternative flight. Agent-booked passengers should approach their agent first.

Start with KLM’s official refund page, not an unofficial contact number. Check your booking-specific instructions before taking an irreversible step.

Why do KLM’s pages show different dates?

At the October 12 check, the travel-alert page still listed October 24, while the newer newsroom statement extended the suspension to October 31. This report uses the newer announcement. Passengers should confirm the status of their specific flight with KLM; a general statement is not a substitute for an individual booking update.
