A Gulfstream G-100 medical plane bound for Boston went missing off Massachusetts with six people aboard, the BBC reported, citing US authorities. The report said the Federal Aviation Administration lost contact with the aircraft just after 1:00 a.m. local time Saturday and issued a search-and-rescue notice.

The US Coast Guard’s Northeast District said an air and water search was underway off Nantucket, a Massachusetts island, according to the BBC. FlightAware data cited in the report showed the plane departed L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda at 11:40 p.m. local time and was scheduled to arrive at Boston’s Logan International Airport at 1:30 a.m. EDT.

The Coast Guard released the aircraft’s tail number, which the BBC said identified it as belonging to Latitude Air Ambulances, a company that provides international medical flights for patients returning home. FlightAware’s tracker showed the aircraft descending from about 24,000 feet (7,300 meters) to about 11,000 feet (3,300 meters) before its communications went dark. The report did not establish why contact was lost or provide a search outcome.
