Finnair plans to operate commercial flights to five Finnish regional cities from the end of February 2028, after the current public-service obligation traffic ends. Its November 4 announcement covers Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kemi and Kokkola.
When tickets will go on sale
The airline says the flights will become available to buy in spring 2027. The announcement is a future network commitment, not a launch of new flights this month or confirmation that the 2028 services can already be booked.
Connections through Helsinki
Finnair says ATR aircraft will operate the services, with consistent daily schedules designed around onward connections at Helsinki Airport. It describes multi-stop flights as a way to serve two or more cities with one aircraft movement.
The release does not set out the complete city-by-city timetable, fares or ticket conditions. Travellers planning for 2028 should check the itinerary when sales open, including any intermediate stops and the time allowed for a Helsinki connection.
What the announcement changes
The planned transition concerns how the routes will operate after the current public-service obligation period. It should not be read as a notice that existing regional flights have stopped. Check current flights separately from the future commercial schedule.
