Tallinn Airport expects flight capacity this winter to average about 9% below last winter, even after setting a new October passenger record. The forecast is included in the Estonian airport’s November 4 traffic update.
The airport attributes the expected reduction to airline network adjustments and higher fuel prices. This is a seasonal capacity forecast, not a notice that a particular booked flight has been cancelled.
A record October before the winter change
Nearly 375,000 passengers used Tallinn Airport in October, up 7.5% from a year earlier. Its first ten months brought 3.27 million passengers, an increase of 11%.
Wizz Air was the largest contributor to growth and carried 15% of October passengers. airBaltic remained the largest airline overall, with a 23% share. These figures describe October traffic, rather than the airlines’ winter capacity.
Tartu passes 5,000 passengers in a month
Tartu Airport handled 5,044 passengers in October, its first month above 5,000. The operator reported growth across Estonia’s regional airports.
What travellers should check
For a winter trip, check the operating airline’s timetable for the exact travel date. A destination appearing in a seasonal network list does not establish that it operates daily or throughout the season.
Before paying for separate connecting tickets, compare arrival and departure times, baggage arrangements and the consequences of a missed connection. Passengers with an existing reservation should use their booking record and airline notices to establish whether their own itinerary has changed.
