Boeing and Korean Air said Sept. 16, 2026, that the airline finalized an order for 103 aircraft, including 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8 Freighters. The Boeing Korean Air order fulfills a procurement commitment made in August 2025.

Four models, 103 aircraft

The order comprises 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8 Freighters. The 737-10s account for the largest share by model count, with 50 aircraft. Boeing and Korean Air described the order as spanning widebody and single-aisle aircraft.

The companies said the finalized order fulfills Korean Air’s procurement commitment from August 2025. Boeing also said the order had previously been unidentified. The announcement does not give a price, delivery schedule or plans for assigning the aircraft to routes or other operations.

Announcement at a Seoul event

The announcement was made in Seoul on Sept. 16, 2026, at an event attended by Korean Air Chairman and CEO Walter Cho and Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope. CFM International President and CEO Gaël Méheust was also present, along with senior government and financial leaders.

The named government attendees were U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Michelle Steel and Republic of Korea Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources Kim Jung-kwan. The source does not identify the other government or financial leaders in attendance.

Boeing and Korean Air characterized the order as a tangible outcome of bilateral trade negotiations and as evidence of the U.S.–Republic of Korea industrial alliance. The announcement does not explain the negotiations or describe their role beyond that characterization.

The order confirms the aircraft types and quantities Korean Air committed to procure, but the source does not say whether the planes are intended to replace existing aircraft or expand the airline’s fleet. It also provides no production or handover milestones.
