Delta Air Lines chief executive Ed Bastian has challenged Heathrow Airport Limited’s decision to move Delta to Terminal 4, away from its partner Virgin Atlantic. In a statement published on November 2, he urged the airport to reconsider and said Delta would pursue available remedies.

Why Delta objects

Bastian said the airlines’ shared Terminal 3 operation had supported connections, premium facilities and access to their combined network for more than a decade. He argued that separating the partners would erode those customer benefits and weaken their competitive position on transatlantic routes.

Those are Delta’s objections to the airport’s decision. The statement does not announce a court filing, describe a legal claim or identify a specific remedy already taken.

What the statement leaves open

The November 2 statement gives no implementation date or detailed arrangements for connections between the terminals. It also does not specify future lounge access, minimum connection times or any compensation entitlement. Those details should not be assumed from the dispute.

Check the terminal for your actual flight

Travellers should continue using the terminal shown on their current airline itinerary and departure information. This statement is not an instruction to report to Terminal 4 immediately or to make a replacement booking.

For a Delta–Virgin Atlantic connection, check both flight numbers, operating airlines and terminal information before departure. If an airline changes an existing itinerary, compare the revised connection and baggage instructions with the original confirmation.
