Travelers booked through Cusco, Peru, on Sunday, November 15, 2026 should check their airline’s revised itinerary ahead of a planned restriction on commercial flights during Pope Leo XIV’s visit.

The restriction is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. local time at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. It applies to the November visit, not to flights today.

What the airport manager confirmed

In an October 27 report by Peru’s official newspaper, El Peruano, airport manager Jonathan Henry Pareja Mendoza told Agencia Andina that commercial operations would be restricted during that window. The report said 14 commercial flights would be suspended.

The manager said airlines and Peru’s Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics, DGAC, were coordinating flight redistribution. Airlines would contact passengers about rescheduling. A suspended flight in that planning announcement should not automatically be read as a passenger’s final cancellation: the airline must confirm the replacement arrangements for each booking.

Before changing your travel plans

Check both directions of your journey, including any onward flight on a separate ticket. If your Cusco flight changes, review the connection time, airport transfer and hotel arrangements together rather than adjusting only one part of the trip.

Use your airline’s own booking page or official customer-service channel to confirm the revised departure, arrival and check-in instructions. Keep the updated itinerary and any airline notification available when traveling.

The cited report does not provide an airline-by-airline replacement timetable. Proposed changes to airport access or operating hours on neighboring days were not final in that account and are not presented here as confirmed arrangements.
