New: Boston–Reykjavík flights from April 12

Delta plans daily nonstop service between Boston and Reykjavík–Keflavík from April 12 through October 30, 2027. The seasonal route will use a Boeing 757-200 with Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.

The airline added this route in its October 16 update to a release first published September 25. Travelers should check their exact dates and cabin when booking; the seasonal announcement does not mean the route operates year-round.

The new flights are seasonal rather than year-round. Boston–Venice is scheduled to begin May 7, 2027, and run through Oct. 29, while Detroit–Athens is set to start June 8 and operate through Oct. 28. Delta says the additions respond to travelers seeking more flexibility across spring, summer and fall trips.

Jeff Arinder, Delta’s vice president of international network planning, said customers continue to look for flexibility, convenience and choice when traveling to Europe. He described the new destinations, Austin’s role as a gateway and the longer seasonal schedules as ways to offer more travel options. Delta also points to partnerships with Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and other airlines that provide connections to destinations across Europe.

Delta plans four weekly nonstop flights between Boston and Venice. The airline says Venice will be its 13th unique long-haul destination from Boston during peak summer and its 12th destination in continental Europe. Boston will become Delta’s third U.S. gateway to Venice, with connections to nearly 20 U.S. destinations.

The route will use an Airbus A330-300, equipped with Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main. Massport Executive Director of Aviation Sharon Williams said the service would give New England travelers another way to reach Italy and strengthen tourism, business and cultural connections between the regions.

Delta also plans to increase Boston–Milan service to daily in 2027. Across its U.S. network, the airline says it will offer up to 17 peak-day departures to Italy and more than 30,000 nonstop seats to the country each week. Delta describes itself as Boston’s No. 1 carrier and says the city is its closest U.S. hub to Europe.

The three-times-weekly Detroit–Athens flights will operate through Oct. 28, 2027. Delta says the route will provide the first nonstop service from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Athens.

Athens is expected to become Delta’s 12th unique long-haul destination from Detroit during peak summer and its seventh destination in continental Europe. The airline will have four U.S. gateways to the Greek capital. Delta says travelers can connect through Detroit to more than 40 U.S. destinations.

Flights will use an Airbus A330-200 with Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main. Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton said the new service would give Southeast Michigan travelers nonstop access to Athens and create opportunities for tourism, business and cultural connections.

The Athens and Venice routes join Delta’s previously announced daily seasonal service between Austin and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, launching March 27, 2027. It will be Austin’s first-ever nonstop service to Paris and will operate on an Airbus A330-900neo, with Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.

Through its Air France-KLM partnership, Delta says the Austin service will offer one-stop access to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India and Africa.

Rome and other seasonal routes return earlier

Delta plans to begin seasonal Minneapolis–St. Paul–Rome and Detroit–Rome service in early March 2027, followed by Seattle–Rome in April. New York–JFK service to Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen is also set to return earlier. The same is planned for Boston–Barcelona, Seattle–Barcelona and Atlanta–Edinburgh.

When service resumes, Detroit–Rome and New York–JFK–Copenhagen are scheduled to operate daily. The announcement does not give exact start dates for these earlier returns.

Cincinnati–Paris runs through March

Cincinnati–Paris service will continue three times weekly from January through March, extending the route into the winter period. Delta did not provide exact operating dates or aircraft details for this extension.
