Air India–Singapore Airlines booking options will expand on October 15, 2026, removing a restriction on eligible partner-operated India–Singapore flights. Additional reciprocal loyalty privileges are planned for the second quarter of 2027—not this October.

Air India–Singapore Airlines: what changes on October 15?

Under the current arrangement described by the airlines, booking an eligible Air India-operated codeshare flight through Singapore Airlines requires an itinerary that also includes a Singapore Airlines-operated flight. The reverse condition applies when booking through Air India.

From October 15, an eligible flight operated by either partner can instead be booked on its own through the other airline’s website, app or appointed travel agency. The change was announced on October 7 in the airlines’ joint partnership update.

Two different implementation dates
Change Announced timing Traveler takeaway
Standalone eligible partner-flight bookings October 15, 2026 You no longer have to combine flights operated by both airlines solely to meet this booking condition
Enhanced reciprocal loyalty privileges Second quarter of 2027 Do not assume the newly announced benefits apply to an October booking

Which India–Singapore services are covered?

The announced booking cooperation spans 126 weekly services linking Singapore with Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai. That is the scope of the arrangement, not an announcement of 126 additional flights or eight newly launched routes.

Illustrative booking example: someone considering an Air India-operated Delhi–Singapore flight could check whether an eligible standalone option appears through Singapore Airlines after the change takes effect. This is not a live availability check: the announcement does not guarantee a particular departure, price or fare will be offered through both websites.

The new loyalty benefits come later

For eligible routes from Q2 2027, the Singapore Airlines release identifies priority check-in and boarding for Maharaja Club Platinum and KrisFlyer PPS Club members. It also identifies additional baggage allowance and priority boarding for Maharaja Club Silver and KrisFlyer Elite Silver members.

The release does not specify a universal extra baggage weight or an exact activation day within that quarter. Check the published program conditions when planning travel; do not add an assumed allowance to your packing list now.

Four checks before paying for a partner flight

  1. Identify the operator. The airline selling the ticket and the airline operating the aircraft may differ. Read the “operated by” line on the selected itinerary, rather than relying on the website’s branding.
  2. Compare the complete offer. Look at the final itinerary and fare conditions, not just whether the same route appears on another airline’s site. Wider booking access is not a promise of lower prices.
  3. Read the baggage entitlement. Use the allowance attached to the actual ticket and any confirmed status benefit, not an assumed rule from a different flight.
  4. Check loyalty eligibility. Confirm the relevant booking class and program rules before choosing where to credit the journey. Buying through a partner does not by itself establish every earning or status entitlement.

The airlines also describe further work on connections and corporate offerings. These are development plans, not a guarantee that an individual connection will have a shorter layover.

See Singapore Airlines’ official announcement on LinkedIn. The post distinguishes the October booking change from the later loyalty benefits.
