Chiang Mai Airport in Thailand has reported 108 flight cancellations and 80 retimings for November 21–28 as airlines adjust around Yi Peng lantern-release periods. The figures reflect coordination as of October 30, according to a November 3 report by Radio Thailand Chiang Mai quoting the airport director.

Dates and times to check

Authorities asked airlines to avoid flying from 10 a.m. to noon on November 24, and from 7 p.m. on November 24 and 25 until 1 a.m. the following day. All times are local in Thailand.

The same schedule review includes 105 extra flights. The cancellation total therefore does not mean the airport will close for the entire festival week.

What passengers should do

The airport expects flights and passengers to cluster into shorter operating periods. Travellers should check their flight directly with the airline before leaving for the airport and allow at least two hours before domestic departures or three hours before international flights.

The official report gives airport-wide totals, rather than an affected-flight list or a common refund policy. Check the options for your own booking with the airline or seller.
