Boeing and Lufthansa Technik have renewed their Tailored Parts Package agreement for three years, extending a parts-supply arrangement used to support airlines operating Boeing aircraft.

The companies announced the renewal at MRO Europe on October 29. Lufthansa Technik says it covers more than 6,500 Boeing part numbers across all Boeing commercial aircraft platforms.

How the supply arrangement works

Boeing will handle supply-chain execution for the defined parts covered by the agreement. Lufthansa Technik will use that access in its component-support services for airline customers.

The stated objectives are better material availability, simpler procurement and more predictable costs. These are the companies’ intended benefits; the announcement does not quantify achieved reductions in aircraft downtime or procurement costs.

A renewal of parts support

The extension concerns an existing supply programme. It is not an aircraft order or an announcement that Lufthansa is expanding its fleet.

Contract value, individual airline allocations and detailed part lists were not disclosed in the announcement.
