American Airlines and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance’s Charlotte campus have outlined support for airport workers and students seeking careers in aircraft maintenance.

Who can receive support?

According to American’s partnership announcement, AIM offers a 10 per cent tuition discount to people working at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, regardless of their employer.

Separately, American is funding $25,000 in scholarships for graduating high-school seniors enrolled in AIM Charlotte’s dual-credit Aviation Maintenance Technician programme. That figure is the scholarship funding pool, not a promised award for each student.

Interviews have conditions

The partnership includes mentorship and access to American’s maintenance facilities. Top-performing students are promised interviews after graduation and receipt of FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. An interview does not guarantee employment.

Prospective applicants should obtain current eligibility, costs and application details from AIM. The announcement does not provide an application deadline.
